Use them or lose them
The best way to learn new SAT vocabulary words is to use them, repeatedly, until you’ve got the definition in your bones. Here are several tricks to help you learn new words.

Write them down
Write down a list of 10 unknown words and their definitions (yes – old-fashioned writing helps your brain remember) and hang it on your bathroom mirror. Look it over every morning and every night when you are brushing your teeth.
Write down the same list of words again and hang it on the refrigerator. Look at it every time you open the fridge to grab a glass of milk.
Talk it out
Take the list off the fridge and bring it to the dinner table every night. Each person has to use at least one word on the list during dinner conversation.
Additional practice
Membean has lots of ways to learn – word root trees, funny stories, podcasts, pictures and videos.
Quizlet lets you create your own flashcards. You can add images and audio as well. And they have a variety of games to play with the cards to help you learn your new words.
Vocabulary constellations
I’ve created a program with the top 20 roots that show up frequently on the SAT. You learn 20 roots and 80 words. Here’s an example of one of the vocab constellation sheets.
